Vic: Wheatley to appeal length of tax evasion sentence

Jailed music promoter GLENN WHEATLEY is set to appeal the length of his prison sentence
for tax evasion.

Fairfax newspapers report WHEATLEY plans to seek leave to appeal his minimum 15-month
jail term .. imposed in the Victorian County Court in June .. as manifestly excessive.

County Court judge TIM WOOD found WHEATLEY had illegally hidden 318-thousand dollars
by using a Swiss accounting firm .. and overseas transactions .. to conceal his income.

Supreme Court Justice ALEX CHERNOV will consider granting WHEATLEY leave to appeal
in a hearing a week from today.

If WHEATLEY is successful .. a panel of three judges in the Court of Appeal will hear his case.
